What decides eligibility, and who decides it

Six factors shape what you may receive. For each one: the published rule, what Nexa can help with, and what only the funder decides.

Citizenship or PR status

Source checked · 19 Oct 2026
  • StudentAid BC funding, including Canada Student Grants and Loans, is for Canadian citizens, permanent residents and protected persons who meet residency rules (StudentAid BC Policy Manual 2026/27, s.3.3).

Nexa can help with

  • Explain options and the official rules that apply.
  • We can still help you plan your studies.
  • Study-permit questions go to a licensed professional.

Only the funder decides

  • Whether you meet the citizenship and residency requirements.
  • StudentAid BC and the Government of Canada assess every application using their own rules, income information and school details.

Documents you may be asked for

StudentAid BC tells you exactly what it needs after you apply. These are the general categories, so you can start gathering early.

Nexa never collects documents through the website.

Please don't upload or email identity, immigration or income documents through our website forms.
